  2. Discussed Alma challenges and benefits:
    • Susan announced that because of Alma’s data structure, circulation procedures will have to be performed for purchased materials (invoiced items are moved to Technical Services—in Transit, and must be moved from that status). Circulation infrastructure will be set up for each Houghton location (HOU, THE, POE), with Lewis and Meg performing almost all of these operations.
    • Susan and Adrien will be meeting to discuss particular Alma issues of concern to the Manuscript Section.
    • Dorothy mentioned ongoing display issues for images uploaded to AlmaThere will be a TS Alma meeting next week to discuss ongoing issues, and to highlight workflows and procedures. Issues possibly up for discussion include Technical Services migration workarounds, and merging of records.
    • All continue to hope August and September will see more Alma training.
  3. Discussed the upcoming renovation (November 2019—June 2020). |
    A proposal Susan is discussing with Tom is the potential for an 80/20 work schedule during the renovation, with the potential for staff to spend 20% of work time on special projects. More details will be forthcoming as the proposal is fleshed out.
  4. Lewis raised the issue of student hiring for the 2018/2019 academic year. He will submit our department’s job ads on Monday, August 13, for posting on Monday, August 27. Students will be interviewed and hired after Labor Day. Separately, Lewis is working with Vicki on the school year hiring of a student in the HUCTW’s School-to-Work program.
