batch number followed by an underscore and the sequential number. For instance, the 9th disk of 41 imaged in the John Updike collection would be given this evidence number:

**Please note that "Batch Number" and "Item Number" often correspond to what is expressed as a "Case Number" and "Evidence Number" in some software programs we use, such as FTK Imager, Guymager, etc.**
