You may see the text "Online access not found" when you are viewing a record from one of our data providers (and not a record we cataloged here at Harvard), and we do not have full-text access to that resource. In this scenario, we will attempt to query our local data sources to find a similar item. We will display any related items we find, which in some cases will be different versions of the same work that match only on author and title, but possibly not
What happens in that scenario is the following:
- HOLLIS sends a query to our local data source (Alma) to see if we have a similar item in any format (print, electronic, etc.)
- If a similar item is found, availability information for that item will be displayed
- In some cases, the similar item may be a different version of the same work, where only the author and title are the same, but not the year, edition, publisher, etc. And less frequently, only the title will be the same.
...
If we cannot find similar items in our local data sources, we will present other request options.
...
Coming in March: we will improve the matching algorithm so that availability information will only display if there is a match on ISBN or ISSN
- If there is no match found, HOLLIS will present an option to request the resource via Interlibrary Loan
In the example below, the record shown is an ebook version of Imaging Xerxes. We do not subscribe to this ebook, therefore we do not have full-text online access. HOLLIS displays our holdings for the print version held at Widener Library. You can use the Request Pick Up link to place a hold on the book.
