I was able to capture the pegboard and focus when the dome is rotating. They seem to be unaffected by it. My worry is that when the amount of shutter opening changes the initial wind gust messes it up. I am going to put more detailed documentation about the entire run as well as the jupyter notebook. Thanks for all the suggestions
More Stubbs stuff:
I typically make a directory for each UT date, for example ut20221214 for today. Then I add a time and date stamp prefix to all images, along with the image sequence number. Restarting the sequence number each day then gives a data set where simple 'ls' commands can sort files without having to look at image metadata.
I still don't understand why it goes out of focus- Unless the pegboard or camera are moving, wind gusts shouldn't bother us. I again suggest that it's temperature and that you can increase the depth of focus by reducing the lens aperture.
Stubbs comments-
This looks like great progress, bravo. We need to be sure the cables and other elements are not trip hazards, and so I suggest running them under the grating floor somebow. Also the camera isn't pointed quite in the direction I was expecting but I'm sure you guys have that figured out. Finally, we need to be sure we aren't obstructing the new in-dome illumination system that Patrick and Parker are installing.
Happy to arrange a time to talk over zoom tomorrow if you like.
