Update as of 2022-09-15 (Only set up on the computer connected to OSELOTS, let me know order for others)

Update 2022-12-6 - set up globus endpoint on the meerkat.

To use the Globus endpoints to transfer data, we currently are using personal endpoints. Plan is to move to more permanent server endpoints, and automatic data transfer, but for now it's done manually.

To transfer data, first ssh in on the auxtel machine. once on the auxtel machine, locate the folder called Globus, there should be a subfolder 'globusconnectpersonal-3.2.0'. In this folder execute the following commands:

./globusconnectpersonal -setup

This will prompt you to login and generate a personal endpoint. Once done you have your endpoint set up.

Next make sure to activate it by:

$ ./globusconnectpersonal -start &

This should mean the access point is now active, you can check this by running:

$ ./globusconnectpersonal -status

This should return that the endpoint is connected (see globus documenation)

For transferring you need to login in on Globus webpage (Globus account)

Here you should see your endpoint being active.

To find the FASRC endpoint, go to the file manager. click the 'Transfer sync to ...' you should now on one side have your endpoint on the Auxtel machine, on the other you can now search for the 'Harvard FAS RC holyoke' collection/endpoint. This will prompt you to login on the FASRC using your username, and the autogenerated code from your two-factor identification. Next you can in the path line navigate to whichever folder you are interested in transferring the data to. Your transfer should now start, you can keep tabs via the activity part of the Globus web interface
