Synthetic Color Bar
Imaging Services currently uses a synthetic color bar that is inserted into the image during the processing phase. It can be added to a patron's order for an extra charge.
The target is intended to be used as an output reference. Features include the 24 color swatches from a Macbeth Color Checker and a centimeter scale. The Macbeth patches are a well known industry standard and are labeled with their Lab D50 2 degree color values. The centimeter scale is matched to the capture resolution and accurately indicates size.
Users wishing to correctly reproduce an image retrieved from the DRS can use the Synthetic Target to verify the accuracy of their output device. The user can be assured that if the target (which has known values) appears correctly, that the image is also accurate.
