Aviary Poetry Project - Sound Recordings
This project improves HOLLIS records for users by adding content from recordings (supplied by WPR staff) to OCLC records, and then using copy/merge in Alma to import this data.
When processing these records, there is a curatorial desire for a common user experience with the records. To that end, some conventions are observed for editing in the current Alma environment (being fully aware that conventions regarding record field filing and display are subject to change by the vendor).
Most of the records referenced by WPR staff have extant OCLC records, so work will be done in OCLC and merged into the extant Alma record.
Preliminary Steps
- Search the Alma record number supplied by WPR.
- In the Alma record look for the OCLC record number in the 035: 035 __ $$a (OCoLC)828262976
- Search this number in Alma. If there are multiple hits, set this record aside and move on. Report duplicates to the Technical Services Librarian.
- Once certain of no Alma duplicates, search the OCLC number in Connexion.
- If there is an extant record (and there will be), edit this record. Our holdings may or may not be indicated, but these records were all created by Houghton, most likely by upload from HULPR or Aleph.
Data Entry Steps in OCLC Connexion
Edit > Control Headings > Uncontrol All
This enables movement throughout the record, and allows the addition of relationship designators with ease.
