JSTOR Forum
JSTOR Forum is a cloud-based image cataloging and media management tool. Harvard Library uses the image cataloging capabilities but does not use the media management capabilities of JSTOR Forum. All images (media) for Harvard repositories are stored in Harvard's Digital Repository Service (DRS).
JSTOR Forum has thorough documentation in their Shared Collections Support. As you read JSTOR Forum documentation, remember Harvard does not use JSTOR Forum to store image files, our images are stored in the DRS, so ignore any mentions of “media” or “media files.”
In 2024, JSTOR Forum retired the "Works" functionality. Repositories wishing to group images may now use item records linked to a "Work Container" record; for example, the recto and verso of a photograph, full image and details of a painting, a photograph album, or multiple views of a built work. If they do not wish for image results to be grouped in the search interface, repositories may also use standalone item records (item records that are not linked to a Work Container). An item record is required for every image. All digital images are linked to item records.
