Overview of new UI in Forum (demo by Bill Connor)

  1. Some highlights include:

    1. Repositories/projects have moved from the left to a menu option at top of screen

    2. Most of the changes are to the item record (not the Work)

    3. We can now select all item search results (rather than the previous max of 250 items)

      1. Check the box at the upper left of the search results to select the first 250 items on the first page of search results, once these 250 items are selected it will give you the option to select all items in search results)

    4. To open items records in separate tabs

      1. Select an item.

      2. Right click - menu opens

      3. Select: Edit item in new tab

    5. To go directly to work level records: under your Name at top right:

      1. Create Name

      2. Create work

      3. Search works

    6. Also under your name at top right: Keyboard shortcuts

Discussion/questions

  1. Users shared experience with new UI

  2. When will users see documentation/instruction on creating new group records?

    1. ICAWG will be working on documentation soon

  3. Are we asking JF for any updates?  For example, fields in JF that don’t display in HOLLIS Images?  Work record changes?  Can Work record fields we don’t use at Harvard be hidden?

    1. Changes of this type are considered a project and would need to be defined in writing.  Users are asked to write up requests and send to WG, who will review and send to LTS.

    2. Noted that many non-Harvard users of JF do not use the Work record as much or at all like Harvard does.  It’s possible JF wouldn’t invest much in changing the Work record, but we can ask for attention to this area.
