Printouts Queue

Purpose: to print items in batch without having to click OK each time. Scope: fulfillment. When a letter is printed to a printer that is defined as a printout queue, it goes to the printout queue (Admin > Printing > Printout Queue) and displays a Pending status. From this menu, hold slip letters can be printed and reprinted in batch.

Permissions: To access the printouts queue, you must have one of the following roles:

  • Printouts Queue Manager (View and print all letters from the printouts queue)
    • Scope = specific libraries as necessary
  • Printouts Queue Operator (View and print letters from the printouts queue (only operator's printed letters)

To use Printouts Queue:

  1. Activate holds as normal by scanning in items. Hold activation kicks off the patron notification process (either immediately or according to hold shelf delay notice rules, which vary by library).
  2. To print hold slips, go to Alma > Admin > Printouts Queue
  3. Select Printouts to print and click Print Selected
  4. A print preview box pops up. Click the print icon
  5. A browser print dialog box pops up. Choose the destination printer (printers available will vary depending on library/location):
  6. Print items
  7. Close the print preview box by pressing ESC or clicking the X:
  8. The status of the printouts is now "Printed":
  9. View previously printed items by changing the value of the status menu. Items can be re-printed without notifying the patron again.
