Searching for content
A user has several options available for searching for content within DRS3
Simple keyword search: for this, a user will type the keyword of an object they are trying to find. They can select the locations within the DRS that they wish the search to access, including the metadata, the file contents (if OCR-ed or otherwise machine-readable files), embedded (automatically extracted technical) metadata, or the filename and path.
Raw Query Search: From the simple search interface is also an option to build a complex JSON query directly. This option also provides links to several examples a user might wish to copy or build off of.
Advanced querying using multiple selected fields and values: A user might prefer to build complex boolean-based queries instead. The drop-down allows the user to select which part of the system to query against, and then they can define field values, adding increasing complexity.
If a user has a particular search that they run regularly, this interface also provides the option to save the search to run again. The user can save the search privately for their own use, or publicly for other users.
Finally, Libsafe offers the ability to search for specific containers, rather than the content within a container. This is less useful for a typical DRS3 user, as most individuals have access to fewer than 40 containers (and often fewer than 25), making it just as fast to browse their list. However, if a user does wish to use this functionality, they would type keywords similar to the “simple” search functionality above.
