Getting Started with the DRS
For New DRS Participants
If you represent a department that would like to become a DRS participant:
Step 1
Review the DRS Policy Guide to understand the types of digital materials accepted for deposit, the responsibilities of the DRS, and the rights and responsibilities of collection managers.
Step 2
Review DRS User Roles & Permissions and consider who will have what role(s).
Step 3
Contact Digital Preservation Services to schedule an introductory meeting.
Step 4
Submit Login Requests and Container Requests as needed.
Step 5
If applicable, request a new Name Resolution Service (NRS) authority path for delivery of your digital objects.
For Existing DRS Participants
If you represent a department which is already an established DRS participant but which has a new digitization or digital preservation initiative on the horizon:
Step 1
Review the DRS Policy Guide to understand the types of digital materials accepted for deposit, the responsibilities of the DRS, and the rights and responsibilities of collection managers.
Step 2
Contact Digital Preservation Services to schedule a consultation about your new project.
Step 3
If you require a new container in the Libsafe workspace, submit a Container Request.
Step 4
If you require new user permissions, review DRS User Roles & Permissions and then submit the necessary Login Request(s).
For New Staff Members in Participant Units
If you are a new staff member whose department is already an established DRS participant:
Step 1
Review the DRS Policy Guide to understand the types of digital materials accepted for deposit, the responsibilities of the DRS, and the rights and responsibilities of collection managers.
Step 2
Submit a Login Request.
Step 3
Complete self-guided training using the provided Training Materials.
Step 4
Review the provided User Resources.
Step 5
If desired, attend a drop-in session or schedule a 1:1 session for training assistance.
Step 6
Review local procedures and workflows within your department.
