DRS Delivery File Details

DRS Delivery File Details

There are some changes in how delivery files will be managed as we move to DRS3.

For Still Images:

A depositor no longer needs to generate their own deliverable file separate from the preservation copy. Instead, after deposit, there are a series of tools and pipelines that will automatically generate high-throughput JPEG2000 (HTJ2K) files and deposit them into the LTS-managed delivery platform.

A few notes:

  • The preservation copy to be converted needs to be either JP2 or TIFF.

  • The conversion process will also run the file through a validation and sanitization step to ensure that the file is sound, and attempt to remediate a pre-conversion copy of the file if certain problems are encountered.

  • In order for the transform process to consider the file, it must be assigned the role (FileRole) “Mezzanine”.

For all other resource types:

The conversion pipeline currently only transforms files of the still image resource type, so a depositor will still need to provide a file compatible with the delivery platform. However, the pipelines will still make a copy of these files and will deposit them automatically in the delivery platform.
