V. Bookmarks

  1. To reproduce the series > sub-series structure from the finding aid, select the Bookmarks section, select your username, right click and select "Create Empty Bookmark." A small dialog box will open to enter the name.

  2. To add series and sub-series, use only the Roman numeral for series, and the letter for sub-series. Do not use spaces or other words.

You can create a complex hierarchy using empty bookmarks. This is recommended for Collections, Series, and Sub-series, for folder names it is better to use a slightly different method (indicated below). The MC number of the collection is optional, but it can be very useful if you are processing more than one collection at the time.

  3. To associate a file with a brand new bookmark, right click on the file name and select the option "Create Bookmark..." from the menu.

  4. The new bookmark dialog will allow you to include a name, comments, and where in the bookmark hierarchy this new bookmark should be located (which is why is good to create the base hierarchy before). Only a name and the bookmark parent selection are needed.

  5. To add items to an existing bookmark, select the file(s) you want to add into the bookmark, right click and select the option "Add to Bookmark..."

  6. When the dialog opens, make sure the option "All Highlighted" is selected. Finally, select the bookmark that will house the file(s).
