If working with addenda combined with an existing container list (with an accession #), it is preferable to combine and give the new combined group of material an MC#. One of the issues to take into consideration in this case is whether the photographs in the original container list have been cataloged (using the accession number) and would therefore have to be renumbered. If this is the case, discuss with Joanne before determining which course of action to take. Another consideration (Public Services should be consulted) is where the addenda is shelved vis a vis the original part of the collection.
If adding material to or otherwise updating a finding aid with a significant amount of links to digitized material (including A/V finding aids), please be aware that there are ArchiveSpace-related issues (regarding difficulty deleting existing digital objects) that may impact how you add materials to an existing finding aid. Discuss options in advance with your team lead and Johanna Carll.
Treatment of addenda should be decided on a case-by-case basis in consultation with your team lead.
