Printing Method

Description

What LTS needs in order to configure

Email-enabled networked printerAlma prints directly to an email-enabled network printer that has its own email address. (BER is the only known library with this setup.)
  • Email address associated with the printer
Manual printing by libraryAlma sends print jobs to an existing library/user email account (e.g. lamcirc@fas.harvard.edu). Library staff must print emails either manually or by setting up an email client rule.
  • Email address that will receive print jobs
Namtuk: Automated printing to a non-email-enabled networked printer using third-party print management solution.Alma sends print jobs to a dedicated printing-only email address managed by LTS (e.g. wid-printer-1@exchange.harvard.edu). Mail is routed through a third party print management system (Namtuk AEM) and automatically printed to an existing networked printer at the library.
  • Printer IP address (must be static)
  • Printer make and model (e.g. HP 4015dn)
  • Alma Circ and TS locations that should be printed to this printer
  • Library unit's IT field support contact (for questions)
  • If printer is replaced or networking changes occur, contact LTS Support to ensure uninterrupted printing
Alma Quick PrintAlma sends print jobs through the browser's print dialog menu – user must click/key through the print dialog box every time.
  • No LTS setup – user just checks the "Quick Print Enabled" checkbox in the Alma desk location dropdown menu.
  • Note that using quickprint requires an email address to be configured, and users must still "choose" a printer when using Quick Print.
