1. The Holdings records should either include 853/863 paired fields or an 866 Summary field. See the MARC Holdings documentation for more information.

2. In order to display the item records correctly, holdings records for multi-volume sets must be paired correctly with appropriate MARC fields.  Harvard holdings are recorded in paired fields 853/863, 854/864, and 855/865 to the extent possible.  Alma automatically generates holdings statements in fields 866, 867, and 868 from these paired fields.  Fields 966, 967, and 968 may be used for manually generated holdings statements in exceptional cases.  Consult the Metadata Standards Working Group Best Practices for examples on recording holdings data for single part monographs, multipart monographs, and serials. 

Each volume should have its own item record . The item record should include the volume information in both the "Description" field and in the appropriate "Enumeration levels" if necessary. See the ALEPH Item Processing Guide for more information.
