Aeon Staff User Documentation

Staff accounts

A staff account is needed to access the Aeon Client (staff) application, and to  access to the Aeon Customization Manager or Staff Manager applications. Note that special privileges and training are required to access the Customization Manager or Staff Manager applications.

Aeon Client, Layout templates

Layout templates are used to customize how information fields are arranged within the client. The goal is to organize and emphasize information within the client so that is optimized to the needs of the specific work groups.

• • Harvard's Aeon installation currently has three layout templates: Staff, Student, and PRES – Preservation Services.
    • The Staff template is used by all staff except for Preservation staff.
    • The Student template is not being used.
    • The PRES - Patron Services template is for the use of Preservation Services staff (e.g., Imaging Services, Weissman Preservation Center, Collections Care, Media Preservation).

User Permissions

• • The default permissions assigned to Harvard staff are as follows:
    

• • Staff will be assigned the Layout Template based on their department affiliantion.
  • Only staff with special permissions and training will be provided access to Staff Manager and Customization Manager.
    • Access to Staff Manager or Customization Manager should be made to:
    • Rachel Howarth, Houghton staff only
    • Spruill Harder, FAS library staff (excluding Houghton)
    • Bill Comstock or Todd Bachmann, Imaging Services staff only
    • Ann Swartzell, Patron Services staff only
