As SEAS migrates from on-premises Sharepoint to Sharepoint online, we have found that the drive mapping experience is different than what we are used to. Please follow these steps to map a drive to SharePoint O365.

There are two ways to map a drive to Sharepoint online.  I would suggest following

Step 1: Adding sharepoint.com as a trusted site

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Depending on your version of Internet Explorer, take one of the following actions:
    1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet options.
    2. Click the gear icon, and then click Internet options.
  3. Click the Security tab, click Trusted sites, and then click Sites

A screen shot of the Security tab on the Internet Options page
    1. In the Add this website to the zone box, type the URL for the SharePoint Online site, https://*.sharepoint.com, and then click Add.

    2. After you have added each site to the Websites list, click Close, and then click OK.

Step 2: Map the site as a network drive

  1. Browse to https://hu.sharepoint.com
  2. At the login page, enter your email@seas.harvard.edu, and before you do anything, click on the 'keep me signed in'.
  3. You will automatically be redirected to Harvard'e O365 login page

                                     will redirect to

  4. Once you are logged in, click Start and My Computer.
  5. In the top of the box click on Map Network Drive.
  6. The Map Network Drive wizard will ask you what you wish to map.
    1. Enter \\hu.sharepoint.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\seas\YOURSITE (where YOURSITE is the name of your site), and click Finish.
    2. If you have any questions about this, please email help@seas.harvard.edu to open a ticket.
    3. An example is \\hu.sharepoint.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\seas\hr.
    4. Please make sure the Connect using different credentials check box is checked along with the Reconnect at Logon check box.

  7. A Enter Network Password box will come up.  Enter your O365 logon credentials, click the Remember my credentials, and click OK.
    1. This will usually your email@seas.harvard.edu and your Icemail password

  8. Your site will now be mapped as a network drive.

  9. If you have any issues, please send an email to help@seas.harvard.edu.
  10. If you cannot map a drive this way, you may also try the alternative way to map a drive to O365, found at here: alternative way to map a drive to Sharepoint Online
