Notes on previous cataloging and housing practices for Romance Novels
Holding records:
Previously each book in the box would get a number, for example Box 22.1, Box 22.2, etc. These would be noted in the 852 $$i. As of 2023 the decision was made to no longer number the individual books in the box. Boxes 1-90 have this numbering, so going forward the records will reflect the new policy. This will be most noticeable for anyone using the Browse function in Hollis to look through the individual titles in the boxes.
Housing:
Previously all the books housed in Hollingers were either covered with Colbri or housed in zip lock bags with stiffeners. Going forward the boxed romance novels do not need to be covered.
Since the books are no longer being numbered individually in the box or covered, they will not get individual stickers indicating their box as was previous practice.
Organization of Romance Fiction by box
These are grouped separately and housed in Hollinger boxes by category.
When you begin cataloging a new box, please make sure to record it in the spreadsheet so we do not duplicate box numbers
