Susan
- Good TS staff meeting yesterday; staff were engaged in the Mission, Vision, and Values statements.
- Ryan's Year of Professional Engagement presentation was excellent, and staff could see the great work he has done with HFA staff, and its applicability in other areas.
- Additional YPE projects will be shared in coming months.
- Managers should look at their Performance Management documents and evaluate progress at this halfway point in the fiscal year. Speak with her if tweaking is necessary.
- Adrien and Linda should look at cataloging priorities for the year and report to the Collections Division on progress.
- Dorothy will look at digitization priorities and report on progress with these.
- Naomi will be out after February 21, and Susan will help fill in with budgetary and some renovation-related tasks during the maternity leave.
- Susan and Linda are preparing position descriptions for the two Edison Collection term (three- and two-years) positions; posting and hire to occur in FY 2021.
- Susan and Adrien will be working on the process for hiring the term Theatre cataloger in FY 2021.
- TS managers will continue to refine plans for staff desks in the post-renovation period (with Lewis, Meg, and Michael moving to the Mezzanine, new staff being placed in Pusey P1, and sorting space being established for HTC materials.
- Technical Services will have responsibility for planning and execution of the April 2020 all-staff meeting. What do we want to do?
Dorothy
- Dorothy is currently housing slides for the Picturae Project.
- At the February all-staff meeting she will report on guidelines for the CURIOsity (built on Spotlight, a plug-in for Blacklight), Harvard's display source for digitized materials in collections and/or digital exhibitions.
- Harvard Digital Projects submissions will again be accepted in March.
Linda
- Metadata Standards is discussing new best practices for dealing with ISBD punctuation in catalog records, including the possibility of stripping these (and 245 ǂh genre/material type subfields) from records. LTS will be working with their recommendations.
Adrien
- The Digital Archivist search has resulted in a recommendation; an offer will go out soon.
- The Project Archivist search committee has met; Marybeth Godwin will be conducting screening calls soon.
- The Joint Processing Guidelines group has met with SPARC with the goal of revamping the group's name and scope. Additional areas under discussion are the establishment of common metrics and the role of SPARC in digital projects.
- LTS is currently engaged in a "swarm development" project for enhancements to ArchivesSpace. They are also working on a new PUI, and on container management enhancements.
Lewis
- Michael Pasternak begins work Monday, with a full week, month, and 90-day agenda of learning, implementing, and assumption of responsibilities.
- Lewis and Susan will be making some adjustments to the Incoming Collections Procedures based on feedback from the Collections Division.
Susan
- Adrien will meet with Vicki and Melanie regarding aspects of the ongoing workflows project which affect their work.
- Lewis will meet with Meg to discuss the workflows project's documentation for her work.
- The workflows project will continue shortly with Books acquisition and accessioning.
- The draft classification document has been sent to the Senior Management Group for review. Following this, it will go to Collections.
