Shack Hartmann imager was installed in nasmyth1 of the AuxTel

Notes:

The camera is very obviously misaligned in this picture. It was fixed when data was actually taken).

The acquisition camera + 92:8 beam splitter ended up being pretty much unnecessary because

Data was taken with three different lenslet arrays from Thorlabs, defined as follows:

  • Lenslet 0: MLA1M: pitch of 1 mm on one axis, 1.4 mm on the other axis, focal length = 4.7 mm
  • Lenslet 1: MLA300-14AR: 300 um pitch, 14.6 mm focal length
  • Lenslet 2: MLA150-5c-m: 150 um pitch, f = 5.6 mm

AuxTel Data Collection

Data was taken on the nights of 5/25/2022 and 5/26/2022 (2 other nights were snowed out and the first night the M3 mirror mount wouldn't rotate - for the two nights of data collection we took data we rotated M3 manually).

Exposures range from 1/1000 s to 1s.

AuxTel SHWFS image analysis

The current analysis code is structured as follows (algorithm for any part can be easily changed):

  1. Color correction
  2. Background subtraction
  3. Find peaks/sources for each frame
  4. Find centroids of sources and errors on the centroids for each frame
  5. Link sources together between different frames
  6. Compute source positions and displacements relative to mean source position (relative to center of mass of frame)
  7. Convert source positions and displacements to meters and arcsec, respectively
  8. Do analysis (correlation measurements, rms of displacements in each frame, etc.)
  • No labels
