The 977 holdings field is local to Harvard and is sometimes referred to as the "Bound with" field. It is used in these cases:
- when the item record for the resource is attached to a different bib record
- when the resource is contained in a box or other container which has a separate identifier or barcode

HOLLIS functionality
When then 977 field contains a bibliographic record number in $f, then a hyperlink is generated in the holdings area of the HOLLIS Get It section. The hyperlink takes the user to the HOLLIS record for the bib number referenced in the $f.
Aeon functionality
When the 977 fields contains $w (container identifier), the data in $w is pre-populated into the Aeon form (staff view only) when the View in Library link is clicked. As of the August 2019 release of Alma this pre-population is not occurring. We have a high priority ticket with ExL and are expecting a status update very soon.
NOTE: the 977 field does NOT generate a View in Library link. The View in Library link is present when: there is an item record, and the library/location participates in Aeon, and the item policy is 91 (Special collections requestable).
