Mission

The mission of the Isham Memorial Library is to facilitate the advancement of music scholarship and performance by collecting and stewarding rare and unique music materials, and by welcoming and assisting all who wish to consult Isham's resources.

Values

The Isham Memorial Library upholds four key values: scholarship, service, legacy and responsiveness.

  • Isham maintains a strong service orientation towards its patrons, providing consistent and reliable access to materials and resources. 
  • We are responsive to general research trends as well as to individual patron needs and interests, and we are proactive in sharing Isham's collections.

  • Through conservation, retention and collecting, we seek to build on Isham's legacy as a research center.

  • We are open to feedback from our patrons, including but not limited to suggestions motivated by their subject expertise.

Vision

The Isham Memorial Library seeks to be a stellar and accessible resource for research involving music materials that are rare, and to pursue ways in which it can further enhance its facilitation of scholarship.
