N.B.  Any item cataloged by RBS should receive the new accession number scheme (that includes older acquisitions being cataloged now for the first time).  In addition, do not assign MS call number to broadsides or other ephemera cataloged by RBS.  

N.B. Catalogers should not change the sub-location of items that are heading to HD storage; this designation will change by the end-processor in end-processing. 

HISTORICAL REFERENCE:

Under the previous local classification scheme, certain preliminary lower-case letters were used before the asterisk and the first letter of the first element of the call number when the size of the book being cataloged falls outside the limits of from 6 to 28 centimeters (top to bottom binding measurement).
