The 2024-04-17 security update is a mandatory update that will be required as of Thursday, April 18th.  Un-updated clients will no longer be able to connect to the Aeon server after this date.  To minimize disruption to reading room service, updating either after closing on April 17th or before opening on April 18th is recommended.

These instructions are only for users updating an existing installation of Aeon.  For new installations, please follow the Aeon Client Installation Instructions.

Note that, in addition to updating the DBC files, you will also need to update your Alma addon to continue using the Aeon/Alma integration.

  1. Close Aeon if it is open
  2. Open Software Center while connected to the VPN
  3. Check under the Installation Status tab to see if you already have the update installed.
    1. If you are updating on April 18th, HUIT may have pushed out the update automatically - if it's already installed, skip to Step 5.
  4. Select and run "Aeon Client DBCChooser Update 2024-04-16"
    1. If this does not appear in your list of applications, run the Software Center Refresh task, then search again.  If it continues to not appear, reboot your computer and wait 15-30 minutes.
    2. "Aeon Client V5.2.4.0-Updated 4/16/24" is the full Aeon installer - only run this if you need to install Aeon from scratch.
  5. After the task completes, run DBCChooser and select your repository (instructions here)
  6. Navigate to your addons directory and delete the Primo Definitive Catalog Search_v1.0.1_Harvard folder (instructions here - note that you only need to delete the one folder)
  7. Start Aeon.  Aeon will automatically update your Alma addon upon startup.

  1. Close Aeon if it is open
  2. Run HUIT_AeonDBCChooser_20240416_Install.exe
    1. This file can be obtained from the Service Manager, Archives & Special Collections Systems
  3. After the task completes, run DBCChooser and select your repository (instructions here)
  4. Navigate to your addons directory and delete the Primo Definitive Catalog Search_v1.0.1_Harvard folder (instructions here - note that you only need to delete the one folder)
  5. Start Aeon.  Aeon will automatically update your Alma addon upon startup.
