DPS Annual roadmap
This is a brief overview of the FY 2025 roadmap for Digital Preservation Services. This list focuses on special programmatic and project advancements, not ongoing operational work that is embedded into our service portfolio.

Streamline DPS portfolio | New team member is onboarded and refreshed team norms are established |
DPS team internal processes are fortified to support streamlined operations between roles and with external stakeholders | |
Born-digital areas of portfolio (systems, services, memberships) are identified for possible handoff to a born-digital stewardship program manager | |
Outreach and documentation are updated to reflect revised portfolio and team | |
Support DRS Futures transition | New content models, workflows, and specifications – for existing and anticipated content genres - are designed in collaboration with LTS team |
Revised billing and content reporting functions are designed | |
Service ownership paradigm between LTS/DPS and vendor is reviewed, revised if necessary, and socialized | |
Curatorial units are provided the content analysis and training opportunities needed to fully leverage new system | |
Transition new Digital Accessions service from pilot to program | Pilot projects are completed and analyzed to identify common patterns and needs |
Service scope, workflows, forms, and procedures are calibrated | |
Resources are provided for media identification and recommended vendors are identified for services outside the scope of DAP | |
Distinctions between central services are scoped and documented to enable streamlined triage for curatorial units | |
Empower Harvard Library to make environmentally sustainable digital preservation decisions | Baseline calculations of new DRS system emissions are configured |
Mitigation research and options are compiled for consideration | |
Partnership opportunities with Preserve for the Future Standing Committee and Harvard’s Office for Sustainability are explored | |
Enhance Harvard Library community knowledge of digital preservation | DPS guidance is enhanced and expanded to include broader base of accessible, asynchronous guidance |
Process is established for documenting and publicly sharing consultation outputs that are re-usable | |
Staff training are opportunities are outlined, socialized, and deployed where possible |
