[HMS/HSCI] Introduction to Unix workshop
Introduction to High-Performance Computing for RNA-seq Data Analysis
(May 30th - 31st, 2018)
Description:
This 2-day hands-on workshop will instruct participants on how to efficiently manage and analyze data using the command line interface (Unix shell) and work in a high-performance computing (HPC) environment (HMS-RC's O2 cluster). All the hands-on activities will be performed in the context of an RNA-seq workflow.
Please note that this workshop will go over the RNA-seq data analysis workflow from FASTQ data to quantifying expression for downstream analysis, it will not cover differential expression analysis.
No prior programming experience or command line training is required.
Who should attend?
Eligible* Harvard researchers who:
- want to learn how and why to use the Unix command line (shell)
- want to use local clusters/high-performance computing environments, like HMS-RC's O2 cluster, for analyzing RNA-seq data
* To be eligible to attend this workshop you should fulfill at least one of the following criteria:
- Harvard Medical School researcher in a lab on the Quad, with grants administered by HMS OR
- Harvard researchers whose PIs are associated with the HSCI as Principal or Affiliated faculty.
