Repairing and relabelling existing collections

Repairing and relabelling existing collections

When you come across an item in the Isham or Merritt stacks that needs conservation attention or relabelling (or, more likely, have a patron point this out to you), the workflow is tracked in Aeon.

  1. Create an Aeon transaction for the item and place the Item In Use slip on the shelf (leave the slip intact with "HD" written at the top if the item resides at HD).
  2. Route the item to Item On Hold for Conservation – WPC for conservation, to On Hold for other treatments such as relabelling.
  3. Place the item on the hold shelf under cabinet 1 in the  Merritt Room; if you are placing it elsewhere, note that location in the Aeon transaction.
  4. For conservation work, email the Book Conservator for Special Collections at the Weissman Preservation Center. Explain the situation and ask to have the item looked at the next time she or he is at the Music Library. Relabelling is performed by Isham staff.
  5. When the item is ready to return to the shelf, route it through the normal channels: In Item Reshelving, then Item Reshelved. If the item resides at HD, simply finish the transaction.
