EAC-CPF Records

Overview of creating EAC-CPF  records
EAC-CPF records describe entities (persons, corporate bodies, or families) related to archival materials. For the Center's purposes, each processor will create an EAC-CPF record for the creator of each archival or manuscript collection, based on information gathered for the finding aid and MARC records for the collection. Some additional research may be necessary to complete the EAC record, particularly for describing relationships to other entities and resources, but this additional research should be limited to the extent possible.
Template and instructions
The Center has an EAC-CPF template which can be customized to suit each entity's information. Please find the template, as well as a sample EAC-CPF record, on the N drive at:

N:\Administration_CHoM\Policies_and_Policy_Development\Processing\Processing_Templates\EAC-CPF

EAC-CPF records are XML documents, and like finding aids must be valid.
Record identifier/filename:
This will be the same as the med# assigned to the finding aid, but with a "c" appended to the end of "med", ex: medc#####
Use this identifier in the record itself and as the xml file name (medc#####.xml)

Your completed EAC-CPF record should be saved in the collection Description folder on the N drive.
