sample box label : for HALF-HEIGHT boxes (flat)

The library stocks a small amount of HALF-HEIGHT versions of some of our standard size boxes.  The clamshell and metal edge boxes do not have them. We don't put labels on the tops of flat boxes, but only on the ends, so to make shorter labels for these, there are three options.

Option #1

  • ask the end processor to make the labels for you. A very simple protocol for this request will be created soon.

Option #2

  • use a template from the shared directory to create a "manuscript folder" label size that will fit the ends of the boxes, as below:

Option #3

  • use a template from the shared directory, or a label created from ArchivesSpace to print onto a full-sheet of label paper, trimming it to the size that fits afterwards, as below:

For all options, you should:

  • put the label on the short end of the box for things going to HD
  • put the HD sticker on or very near the label and cover it with wide tape
    • ask end processor for the right kind of tape to use and how to use it.
  • it is not necessary to cover the barcode with tape
