Redirects
If you wish to have URLs from your old (legacy) WordPress site redirect to your pages on the new flagship WordPress site, please follow the directions below.
Instructions
Download a copy of this file by selecting File > Save As > Download a Copy
Rename the file with your entity name using this pattern: EntityName_Redirects. If you manage more than one entity, you may combine all your entity redirects into a single table. Do not use tabs.
Fill in the left column with URLs from your old website that you wish to redirect. Fill in the right column with the URLs on the new site that you wish to “point” visitors to. Watch this video to see step-by-step instructions.
Upload your spreadsheet to this SharePoint folder.
FAQ
What if I cannot access SharePoint?
If you cannot access SharePoint because you don’t have the correct HSPH credentials, email webredesign@hsph.harvard.edu to receive a copy of the sample spreadsheet.
What happens if I take no action?
If you take no action, all old URLs not included in this spreadsheet will be redirected to your new entity’s landing page.
What about redirecting old web pages to the Intranet or external websites?
This spreadsheet is ONLY for redirects that point to the new flagship website. Do not include redirects to the Intranet or to external websites.
What if I have eliminated some pages from my old site?
It is ok to have more than one URL redirect to the same place. If you have eliminated a page, you can redirect that URL to your landing page or a different relevant page you manage.
I don’t think I have enough time to redirect every URL on my old site. What should I do?
If you have a high volume of pages on your old site, we recommend that you focus on high traffic pages.
Should I include programmatically migrated news, events, and publications in this spreadsheet?
No. Do not request redirects for programmatically migrated news, events, and publications. These will be created automatically.
