Relocation

All books are relocated to one of two locations: Harvard Depository or Houghton Library stacks.

Phase Boxes

After labeling and barcoding is complete, change the location information in Aeon to “Request Finished.” and place the books on the “To be shelved” shelves in Houghton Library.

Non-phase Box Cases

All other cases and Tyvek envelopes are sent to Harvard Depository. Volumes are packed in gray bins available from Harvard Depository. Use scrap paper and/or bubble wrap to pack the bins so volumes do not move around in the bins during transport. Do not overfill the boxes. If you cannot lift the bin, you over packed it. On average, 15 medium-sized volumes fit in a bin. Secure bins shut with a plastic zip tie on one side of the gray bin only. Place bins in the designated place in Pusey TS area near the main entry doors.

Fill in the form with the following information:

  • your information
  • HT prefix
  • “Cambridge; Pusey Library” address
  • enter the number of desired gray bins under "Total number of media transfer containers needed.”
  • click "Grey (new transfer)"
  • and click the blue send arrow at the bottom of the page.

Fill out a request for gray bin pick up using the Media Pickup Request Form at https://harvard.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_efYx6SnoEQ73CKx.

Fill in the form with the following information:

  • your information
  • HT prefix
  • “Cambridge; Pusey Library” address
  • click “This pickup is for New Accessions only.”
  • fill in the number of bins in “Quantity of plastic transfer cases”
  • and click the blue send arrow at the bottom of the page.

You will receive an email verifying your request. If sent before 3 pm, bins are usually delivered or picked up the following day. However, it may take two days. If not picked up in three days, resend the form.
