Placing Orders on Behalf of Patrons

In general, patrons should place their own reproduction requests. In some cases, especially with uncataloged material, it may be easier to place the reproduction request on behalf of the patron.

  1. Ask the patron to register in Aeon using these instructions.
  2. Create the request:
    1. If the material is in the public domain, follow the instructions to order inside the client.
    2. If this material is under copyright, the patron will need to make the request him or herself. Send enough information so that the patron can enter the request, you can add to the request or once it is in the system.
    3. If the patron is requesting multiple items from a collection, you can ask the patron to create one request with all of the item numbers. Please copy the item numbers to the notes field and then clone the requests.
    4. Have the patron notify you when the requests have been made, so that you add to the request or make any necessary changes.
  3. Update the request in Aeon.
  4. Print the call slip.
  5. Once the item is delivered, add any necessary flags.
  6. Bring the item to the Reproductions Coordinator.
