Printed Programs

Overview

Printed programs are generally arranged by title of production.  They can also be grouped by specific theater company or type of program. 

Sorting

Depending on the nature of the collection, do the following:

• Use genre term "souvenir program", "theater program", "motion picture program" for the appropriate item.
• Include the title of the production and date of performance.
• Include the theater where the production was performed (if known), and geographic location.
• If appropriate include writer of production, producer or actors in starring roles, this can be important when differentiating between long runs of productions and multiple productions.
• Indicate in scope and content how the collection is arranged/organized.

Cataloging Examples

• (138) Idiot's Delight at Shubert Theatre; New York (N.Y.) : souvenir program, 1936. 1 folder. Written by Robert E. Sherwood, production of The Theatre Guild. Starring Lynn Fontanne, Alfred Lunt. 2 copies. [MS Thr 701]
