Digitization for Teaching and Learning

This stream processes requests from faculty to be used in teaching, learning, and research. This work is funded through allocation. Please note: these requests will be prioritized over any other projects already in process. 

Harvard Library Collections Digitization Program

Each year, the Harvard Library Collections Digitization Program identifies two themes in collaboration with the Special Collections and Archives Council Leadership and the Discovery and Expand Access to Knowledge Standing Committee. This is a Harvard Library digitization program based on selected themes and executed over a multi-year period. All of the libraries in the Harvard Library system are welcome to participate. The Harvard Library Collections Digitization Program covers the cost of digitizing collections through Imaging Services and provides project management support. DRS storage costs and any additional costs associated with conservation treatment are the responsibility of the owning repository. A/V digitization is also currently out of the scope of this program.

Harvard Library Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDIBA) Digitization Program

The Harvard Library Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Antiracism (EDIBA) Digitization Program aims to increase the diversity of voices in Harvard's digital collections by prioritizing and facilitating the imaging of such materials across all repositories at Harvard. The program defines “EDIBA” broadly and proposals can be framed in terms of terms of race, religion, class, ability, socioeconomic status, gender, political beliefs, sexuality, age, and nation of origin.

Houghton Library Funded Digitization

These are digitization projects directly funded by Houghton and paid with a 33 digit chart of accounts code. They still need to be submitted via  Imaging Services' online form and go through the formal approval process.

Please note that in all cases, the library is responsible for paying the ongoing digital repository storage fees.
