Assigning hotkeys
Identifying available hotkeys
Hotkeys are an easy and common method for activating macros. However, key combinations must be chosen carefully.
Some key combinations reserved for Windows system functions (e.g., Ctrl+C) are marked in red in the Macro Express hotkey list, but many conflicting key combinations are not immediately apparent. Possible conflicts include hotkeys assigned to other macros and key combinations associated with functions in Macro Express or in the specific program(s) in use (e.g., in Aleph, OCLC Connexion, or oXygen).
To avoid possible conflicts, check the list of Known key assignments.
Please also consult the following HUL Macro Express and OIS resources:
- Macro Hotkey Finder (spreadsheet by Ann Heintz; for identifying available key combinations; does not identify key combinations in use in OCLC Connexion)
- Aleph Keyboard Equivalents (for identifying key combinations already assigned to Aleph functions)
- Assigning Hotkeys with the Macro Express Character File (for the HUL shared Unicode diacritics macro file)
