No Ticket, No Laundry

(1) D owns and operates a hand laundry. P brings seven shirts to the laundry for cleaning ("boxed, no starch"). D fills out a laundry slip and after negotiations with P marks on the slip, "Pick-up Tuesday the 12th," and gives the slip to P. Later, P sues D for breach of contract, alleging that the shirts were not ready until Friday the 15th. The first witness is P, who attempts to testify to the terms of the contract. D objects. What ruling and why?

(2) Suppose D used a laundry ticket book that contained a series of two identically numbered slips separated by carbon papers. D would write up the order and due date and give the carbon to the customer. If P offers the carbon and D objects, what ruling and why?
