Hit and Run

Hit and Run

D is accused of leaving the scene of an accident. The testimony at his trial shows that, upon leaving work, P discovered her parked car to be dented along the side; W testifies that he saw D's car skid, thump P's parked car, and then drive away. D admits skidding toward P's car but denies striking it. At trial, D offers to prove that he is covered by insurance for such damage. P objects. What ruling and why?
