Direct Examination: Accident
Action for damages for personal injuries that allegedly occurred when D ran over P on June 1 while P was crossing the road. D's answer denies the allegations of the complaint and pleads contributory negligence. At trial the jury is sworn, counsel makes a brief opening statement, and P is called to the stand as plaintiff's first witness. The first question put to her is, "Where were you on June 1?" D objects. What ruling and why?
