Born digital material

Start your work with digital material by checking out the basic WORKFLOW to follow.

All born-digital material should be assessed during a collection survey, and thoughts as to how to view/process/provide access to it should be included as part of a processing plan.

Preferred procedures and available options are likely to vary from collection to collection depending on a number of factors.

Expect practices to evolve as Schlesinger staff become more adept with working with these materials - just because you don't see an option described herein doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue it. After initial analysis, discuss with Kelcy Shepherd and Jennifer Weintraub.

Since each collection poses a different set of challenges, approach all work with a spirit of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Don't be afraid to try something new!
