Ordering and Retrieving Material
There are different procedures for ordering and retrieving materials based on why you need the material, where the materials are stored, and which building you want the material delivered to.
Materials needed for exhibits, research, and assessment (retrievals)
Materials in this category are ones that will return to the vaults or HD in the boxes in which they arrived.
If you are unsure if you will return the item or if you will need to rehouse or process it, you should proceed as if you were going to return the item as you received it. Items can be removed from circulation or permanently withdrawn from HD after they have been retrieved but returning withdrawn items creates confusion for HD and can lead to problems in the Library's container management work.
Use of all materials stored onsite must be managed through Aeon, regardless of which building they will be used in. Requests for materials that will be used in the Schlesinger and are stored at HD must also be managed through Aeon. Requests for materials that will be used at 40 Concord Ave. and are stored at HD are managed outside of Aeon.
