Spreadsheets for PDS Object Label and Structure

When depositing a PDS object into the Digital Repository Services (DRS), Imaging Services can label and structure the object in various ways. These choices listed below affect how the object is saved in DRS and presented in the Harvard Mirador Viewer page delivery system.

  1. Without label and structure
  2. Auto generated labels from MMSID
  3. Customized label without structure
  4. Customized label with structure
  5. Special Cases

Imaging Services can deposit PDS objects into the Digital Repository Services without any labeling or structuring. However, for all other options, additional information is required from the repositories. This can range from a simple MMSID on the batch delivery sheet for auto-generated labels (option 2) to detailed METS spreadsheets (option 3 and 4), for customized labels, with or without page structure. For options involving customized labeling or page structure, Imaging Services provides the necessary spreadsheet templates.  Currently, we have the several templates to address these different needs.

You can download all these templates as a zip file, or download each one from the links above. See detailed description for each template in the “Spreadsheet Templates Description”. Each field in the templates themselves also has a note, which gives users a quick tip.

For a detailed description of each option mentioned above, please go to Description for Label and Structure Options.

Note:

  • Labels and structures can always be updated in the DRSWebAdmin after depositing.
  • For multi-volume items or series, if each item is deposited as a PDS object there is also an option of creating a PDS Document List Object to hold items together.
