Reporting duplicates in OCLC to be merged by Harvard staff

As of November 2018, Harvard has an OCLC Member Merge Team that is authorized to merge duplicates in OCLC. To report duplicate print and electronic monographs in OCLC to Harvard staff, please use this qualtrics form. You may only use this form to report duplicates that are in the books format, either print or electronic. Once you fill out the form, a member of the OCLC Member Merge Team at Harvard will merge the duplicates in OCLC. They will contact you if they have any questions. You will be responsible for any updates in Alma, including merging any duplicates, and moving accompanying inventory.

To report duplicate print and electronic serials in OCLC to the Serials Cataloging team, please use the Serials & eresources cataloging work requests LibAnswers form. You may use this form to report duplicates that are in the continuing resources format, either print or electronic.

Harvard is not authorized to merge bibs for non-book and non-serial formats. These still need to be reported directly to OCLC. Use "Action --> Report error" in Connexion to report duplicates to OCLC.

(If you are a member of the Harvard OCLC Merge Team and you get a new computer, you need to follow this video to enable OCLC Merge.)

As of April 2023:

  • These are the staff who work on monographs: John Dickson handles requests on Mondays and Tuesdays. Anthony covers Thursdays and Fridays. Honor and Isabel cover Wednesdays and weekends on alternate months. Linda Isaac covers special collections merges.

  • These are the staff who work on continuing resources: Michelle Beau, Nicole Hios, John Hostage and Syuzanna Turshyan.
