Installing Borrow Direct on Windows XP and Vista

The Relais Staff Client can only be used on machines with fixed ip addresses registered with Relais.
The desktops need firewall opened to connect to 66.201.221.196 and 66.201.221.197 on port 1443.
PLEASE NOTE, the distributor of the client advises that we should not open the modules from the start menu or any other paths. The only path that should be used is the desktop folder of shortcuts that are created when the client is installed. HOWEVER, the print shortcut should not be opened until the target configuration described in the Print Configuration section below is completed.

Installing Client

  1. Click on BD_setup_2011_1.exe. ClickRun at Security Warning.
  2. ClickInstall at the InstallShield Wizard prompt.
  3. The following window will display while the Wizard opens
  4. Click Next at the Installation prompt.
  5. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
  6. Select Anyone and click Next.
  7. Select New Installation and click Next.
  8. Use default installation path click Next.
  9. Click Install.

  10. Click Finish.

Confirm Client Install

  1. Open the Relais 2010 shortcut on the desktop
  2. Double Click Monitor Queues
  3. If the client is installed successfully, the Monitor Queues window will open.

Print Configuration

  1. To configuree the print target for the unit, open the Relais 2010 shortcut on the desktop.NOTE: Do not open the print queue, as the unconfigured software will connect to the Relais system and print requests from other institutions.
  2. Right mouse clic on Print Request. Select Properties. Copy the path below into the Target field for the unit. The supplier name listed in the properties section of the print client must match exactly with the text for the unit as listed below, or the system will print other institutions' requests.
    Countway Borrow Direct Office machines should be configured with:
    C:\RelaisILL2010\PrintRequest.exe "HARVARD COUNTWAY"

    Harvard Depository Borrow Direct Office machines should be configured with
    C:\RelaisILL2010\PrintRequest.exe "HARVARD DEPOSITORY"
    Widener Borrow Direct Office machines should be configured with:
    C:\RelaisILL2010\PrintRequest.exe "HARVARD WIDENER"
  3. Click Apply and OK.
  4. Do not open the print queue as "real" production requests will be sent to Harvard.
