7. Finding an Authority Path
A name authority is a Harvard organizational entity given the ability to create and maintain persistent identifiers. An authority path is a representation of the name authority that is used in the construction of NRS persistent identifiers.
NRS has 26 top-level authorities defined - corresponding to the main adminstrative units of the University.

Consult the NRS Status Page to view all top-level authorities and any sub-authorities that have been defined. Accompanying each authority path is its status (active or inactive) and name of the local NRS administrator for that authority.
A test/qa NRS Status Page is also available - useful for checking authority paths defined in the qa/test instance of NRS.
