Ordering materials through HOLLIS for Archival Discovery (HAD)

This page documents the procedures for ordering materials through HAD.  


Go to HOLLIS for Archival Discovery (HAD): https://hollisarchives.lib.harvard.edu/

Find the item you want to order. Note: do not submit orders from a collection, series, subseries, cumulative level record as they do not have containers attached to them. You can identify these records by the term that proceeds the identifier in the upper left corner of the record ("COLLECTION," "SERIES," "SUB-SERIES," "CUMULATIVE").

To request an item from the item record, click the "+ Add to My Request List" button on the upper right side of the screen.  Note that the container the item is stored in can be found under the "Physical storage information" section of the record.

If you are planning to order several folders, you may find it easier to place orders while scrolling through the inventory in the view of the finding aid found under the Collection Overview tab. To order a specific item, select the "+ Add to My Request List" button to the right of the item you wish to request. Note that the container the item is stored in can be found between the folder title and the folder number.

Once you have selected all of the items you wish to order, click the Request button at the top right side of the screen and then click My Request List

In the My Request form, review the list of items and deselect any items you don't want by clicking the check box to the left of  the item (the check box will be removed from the box).  Fill in the required "Select date of visit" field.  Record any notes for the Research Services staff in the Instructions or questions box.  You should always indicate that the request is being made by a staff member.  Click Submit.

Please try to limit your daily requests to 6 linear feet of material. After you submit your request, you need to manage your request in Aeon.
