Ordering materials through HOLLIS
This page documents the procedures for ordering printed materials and manuscript collections that don't have finding aids but that can be requested by researchers through HOLLIS. Orders for collections with finding aids should be placed through HAD.
Go to HOLLIS: https://hollis.harvard.edu/
Find the record for the manuscript collection, book, or periodical you want to request and open the record.
Scroll down to the bottom of the record and click on the Request to copy or visit link in the Borrow Direct section of the record
Note that if there is more than one holding attached to the record, you will first have to select the item you want to order.
On the New Reading Room Request form, write "Staff" in the Special Requests/Questions? box so that Research Services staff reviewing the request in Aeon knows the item was ordered by a staff member. You should also add any specific delivery requests you have for the item being ordered. Fill in the required "Scheduled Date" field. Click Submit Request.
Please note that a record for an unprocessed record may represent several containers. You may be able to identify specific boxes to order in an unprocessed collection using a local container list on SharePoint or in the file cabinets outside office 416 (Kelcy's office) or through notes in SLTracker. Please try to limit your daily requests to 6 linear feet of material.
After you submit your request, you need to manage your request in Aeon.
