Scans from Partner libraries

Current request scanning workflow

  • All scan requests will initiate in HOLLIS, with a link to ILLiad
  • With a variety of ILLiad routing rules, IDS logic, and system addons in place, requests will flow through the following systems for fulfillment:
    1. Rapid
    2. OCLC
    3. Docline 
  • Requests will be tracked in ILLiad
  • Fulfilled scans will be emailed in ILLiad automatically
  • Emails are sent from ill@harvard.edu; responses go directly to LibAnswers for staff response; staff can reactivate and request resends from within ILLiad

SCSB request scanning workflow - scans provided from ReCAP for Partner items

  • All scan requests will initiate in HOLLIS, with a link to ILLiad
  • After resource sharing staff have exhausted all other fulfillment networks, the request will be sent to SCSB via ILLiad. 
  • The request will be "finished" in ILLiad after sending through SCSB.
  • ReCAP will email article to ill@harvard.edu 
    • If the item is not on shelf, too fragile, or otherwise unavailable for scanning, ReCAP will email ill@harvard.edu and inform them of this
  • Resource sharing staff will upload the article in ILLiad, which sends to the patron.

Scans from Harvard to partners

  • Scan requests will arrive in LAS as EDD requests
  • HD Circulation staff will print retrieval requests with citations
  • After retrieval, materials are handed off to HD Resource Sharing
  • HD Resource Sharing scans with EDD coversheet
  • Scan is sent via email to patron that requested scan; email is from hdedd@hulmail.harvard.edu
