Tips for Trainers / Facilitators
- Bring water or another liquid to class. Talking more or less continuously can leave you parched well before the end of a two-hour class.
- Determine and communicate up front how you'd like questions to be communicated: as they come up or at specific points you designate, such as "okay, any questions on..."
- Remember to describe what you're doing, especially when asking trainees to follow along on their own computer as you talk. If they're simply following along, the redundancy helps reinforce memory.
- If you give barcode examples on handouts for trainees, format them for easy reading. 32044 barcodes are easier to read as they appear on physical barcodes: 32044 123 456 789.
- To make the facilitator's job workable, usher trainees to the front of the room. Workstations in the very back of a room should be reserved for facilitators. Back-of-room workstations are challenging to support.
